Kelowna Inclusive is a social group organized around the values of acceptance, inclusion, and diversity. The hosting of social events is what we are about. The goal is to make Kelowna a more inclusive city by bringing like-minded people together to connect.
Kelowna Inclusive supports decolonizaiton is expressly anti-racist, against sexism and does not tolerate any discrimination and prejudice against members of 2SLGBTQIA+.
Code of Conduct
No unsolicited personal messages between group members without permission. Permission can be granted in a comment thread by asking, for example: “Could I PM you?”. If you are friends on Facebook, then permission is assumed to be granted.
Ignorance of the rules does not protect you from being banned from the group. It is up to you to understand the rules and educate yourself on terms you do not understand. Bans range from temporary to permanent, dependent on the severity of the infraction.
The rules are in place in the Facebook group and at in-person events. Reports of exclusion, harassment, sexism, racism, discrimination and prejudice will be taken seriously investigated and dealt with accordingly.
Demographic specific events
Age-specific events/posts will be allowed within the context of the restriction creating a greater inclusion for the people who would face feelings of discomfort, fear, discomfort, and exclusion otherwise. For posts looking for roommates and friends, this can be particularly true. Posts in which a person specifies that they are looking for roommates, or friends within a specific age range will be allowed. Other events that are created or cross-posted that have an age range/restriction will be examined and approved on a case by case basis.
Ladies’ nights: Due to the significant amount of sexism women face in society, gender-specific events for women are allowed. If you want to meet more people and expand your social group, feel free to organize an event.
